25 June, 2005: Bajaj Avenger, the latest from Bajaj Auto's two-wheeler stable has rolled out. The new bike comes with DTS-i technology.
Bajaj Auto has positioned Avenger as a cruiser bike for India. Other crusier bikes currently available in India are Yamaha Enticer and Kawasaki Eliminator.
Bajaj Avenger, the company claims, is the technology-showcase for the entire two-wheeler industry in India. The low-slung Avenger compares to similar cruisers available worldwide. The bike will be manufactured at Bajaj Auto's Chakan plant.
Bajaj Avenger comes with the 180 cc DTS-i engine technology that incorporates another innovative Bajaj technology - ExhausTEC - for better low-end torque. Riders can now expect more low-end and mid-range grunt and crisp carburetion for quick response along with a light throttle feel. The Silencer has a throatier note to give the "genuine cruiser" feel.
The company claims that vibrations at the handlebar and foot-pegs have been eliminated for a comfortable all day ride. The Avenger is claimed as having the ability to handle normal road undulations and bumps and due to suspension travel increase and optimization of damping rates so that the rider gets a better poise and straight-line stability.
"The new Avenger keeps all the advantages - and indeed surpasses some of them - of the original Eliminator. We are also offering it at a highly competitive price of only 60,000/- ex-showroom New Delhi. We believe that this step will bring back the pleasure of riding back onto Indian roads, "Says Mr. S. Sridhar, VP (Marketing & Sales - 2W),
Said Rahul Bajaj, Baja Auto chaiman: "Once again Bajaj Auto R&D team has stood up to the occasion and emerged with a class leader product comparable to the best available internationally."
